IMPACT® is written by the Intellectual Property & Technology team at UK law firm Freeth Cartwright LLP. The team acts for a wide range of commercial and public sector bodies, and each member of the team has their own personality, specialisms and interests – we hope the content of the blog reflects this. From software licensing, outsourcing, trademarks and copyright to data protection and freedom of information, our blog's primary focus naturally falls on legal issues affecting the UK, but we're always happy to stretch a point if something interesting is going on elsewhere. So, here's the team.
Deryck Houghton
Deryck heads the IP&T team. He advises on IT law. This covers outsourcing and other IT-based services, systems projects, software licensing, data protection and e-commerce. His clients range from Blue Chip household names to SMEs and public sector bodies. He particularly enjoys developing and presenting bespoke training - for lawyers and non-lawyers alike.
Ann Critchell-Ward
Ann leads the IP practice and handles a wide range of intellectual property issues, primarily involving disputes / actions for enforcement of IP rights and branding. Her work also covers licensing, assignments, publishing agreements, anti-counterfeiting campaigns, IP exploitation, due diligence – and data protection compliance and litigation.
Fiona Boswell
Fiona's practice is non-contentious and centres on IT and IP contracts. She also advises on data protection, franchising and contract due diligence.
