We all know that a great deal gets written about the prevalence of cybercrime, but I wonder how many of us really appreciate the actual volume of nefarious activity going on.
With this in mind, I have been keeping tabs on the number of malicious emails landing in my inbox. In the last two months alone, I have received no less than 34 messages purporting to be from banks, building societies and similar organisations which my firm's security systems have identified as either phishing messages or harbouring other malware. As I do not have accounts with the vast majority of the organisations ostensibly involved, I am inclined to believe our systems are correct.
The count breaks down as : September - 15 emails; October - 19 emails.
I suspect I receive fewer of these things than many people. Makes you think, doesn't it ?
