A few recent stories that you may be interested in:
- Dell launches Linux computers in Europe (source: Ubuntu website). The computers will host the Ubuntu 7.04, one of the Linux distributions. At the moment, Dell is only shipping the computers in the UK, France and Germany, and there's only a small selection available. But it's a start. Along the same lines is...
- Lenovo has announced it will ship Linux laptops (source: BBC News).
- Google has joined the Open Invention Network (source: The Register). The OIN is a group of IT businesses including the likes of IBM and Novell. Members share information between themselves on their Linux-related patents (information on granted patents is public anyway, although finding what's relevant is time consuming) and agree not to sue each other based on these patents.
- German Court rules that Skype breaches GPL2 (source: The Register). This is the second time that the German Courts have enforced GPL2.
"and sue each other" - typo? I think the point is they agree *not* to sue each other :)
