30 top UK online retailers do not meet meet WCAG guidelines

A report by Nomensa, an accessible website design agency, has found that none of the top 30 UK online retailers comply with the most basic standard of accessibility under the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 1.0.

Nomensa is advocating that retailers adopt what it calls "Online Social Responsibility Programmes" to deal with this issue. I'm obtaining a copy of Nomensa's report, and so am not yet sure what Online Social Responsibility Programmes" actually are, but this sounds a lot like the Accessibility Policies suggested by PAS 78, the standard for commissioning accessible websites launched by the Disability Rights Commission and the British Standards Institute earlier this year. Once I've obtained a copy of the report I'll do a follow-up to this post.
