How do I check what trade mark class a product or service falls into?

This is a question that a client asked me today. Fortunately, there's an easy way to find out.

At the UK Patent Office website you can find the two following features:

• Trade Mark Classification Search - this lets you type in a product or service description and see what classes match;
• Trade Mark Classification Guide - this describes the classification system and the broad descriptions of what goes in each class.
